Skirts, wigs & whistles for our M8s of August

What started as a community unifier amongst friends in 2020 has grown exponentially in the past few years to become the crowning jewel of the Sydney LGBTQI+ community. Emerald City Kickball was born during the unprecedented pandemic days when a few friends wanted to create an inclusive, recreational sport that anyone could be a part of, regardless of their sporting skill.

The mammoth success of the club has perhaps surprised even its founders but in reality it was always going to be a surefire hit. Providing a safe space for the LGBTQI+ community in a sports environment when traditionally that space feels anything but inclusive, well it’s no wonder the peeps came flocking.

We sat down with founding members Jamarr Mills and JES, whose passion and dedication for Emerald City Kickball is surely another reason for the success of this brilliant initiative. Check out the video interview below!
